My babies: Wacom Bamboo, A4 XP-PEN, Motion Computing LS800 and a cheapo Android.

Latest edition to the family, the Fujitsu Stylistic ST5032D, the poor man's Cintiq (£90 from ebay) (That bass playing banker Grigson seems to be getting the better of me!)

Specs: Win 7, 2GB RAM, 60 HD. Runs like a dream for a 6 year old grandaddy of slates. Even more so with the Wacom driver, Sketchbook Pro and Paint Tool SAI installed. (Photoshop CS3 and CS5 were too slow and laggy so have made done with CS2).

Before any of you digital artists go all "OMG WANT, NEEED!!1", etc., I spend 3 days scouring Nerdsville, wracking my brain and gasming over dozens of different makes and modules before settling for this (most of which were the tablet/laptop convertibles, too bulky for my current needs).

It takes a bit of getting used to if you've never drawn directly on screen before or a vast improvement if you were using a smaller one in the past (in my case, the little Motion). The on-screen keyboard can slow the work process a good bit if you've developed an automatic reflex with your physical one for shortcuts. My left hand still gets restless from time to time!

The device, I feel, is best used for sketching/non-serious artwork; after which, I'll transfer to my main work area. And of course, for surfing, wasting time on Youtube, porn, social bragging, etc!
